Stillbirth and Kick Count Awareness
While SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) claims 7 lives per day, stillbirths claim 70 lives per day in the United States. Some stillbirths are unexplained and are unavoidable. For those that are avoidable, efforts to stamp out stillbirths can be made with performing a daily Kick Count.

Researchers at Harvard Medical School, as well as other institutions in Europe and Australia, are active in stillbirth research and are conducting studies to improve pregnancy outcome through a better understanding of decreased fetal movement. Efforts are being made in Norway to promote public awareness of Kick Count with "Tell Trivselen" or "Count the well being." A similar Kick Counting campaign is being planned in the U.S.
Dr. Nguyen, OB-GYN and founder of the BabyKick Alliance, plans to be part of the Kick Count awareness campaign to prevent stillbirth. It is acceptable and essential to talk about stillbirth prevention.
